Qatar Emir Hopes to Strengthen Relations with France

Doha, October 20 (KUNA) -- The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, expressed his aspiration to strengthen the partnership and cooperative ties between his country and France across various fields. The Qatari Diwan Al Amiri stated in a press release that Sheikh Tamim’s remarks came during official talks he held with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Lusail Palace in the Qatari capital. According to the statement, Sheikh Tamim expressed his great pleasure at this historic visit, which marks the first state visit by a French president to his country. The Emir of Qatar regarded the visit as a manifestation of “the depth of bilateral relations and the robustness of the strategic partnership between the two friendly countries.” The statement noted that the two sides discussed bilateral cooperation relations and the strategic partnership between the two countries, as well as ways to enhance and develop them across various dimensions, particularly in the economic, investment, security, and defense sectors.
