Aden, October 20 (KUNA) — Yemen’s Shura Council Chairman Ahmed bin Daghr praised today, Tuesday, the steadfast fraternal stance of Kuwait toward Yemen and the humanitarian, relief, and developmental support it provides across various sectors. The Yemeni state news agency reported that this came during a meeting between bin Daghr and Kuwait’s Ambassador to Yemen, Falah Al-Mutairi, to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation, as well as recent developments in Yemen and the region.
Bin Daghr affirmed that Kuwait has remained alongside Yemen through all stages and circumstances, with its contributions reflecting the depth of the historical ties between the two countries. He commended the role of the Saudi-led coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen in backing the Yemeni government to end the Houthi coup and restore state institutions, while condemning Houthi attacks on civilian facilities and Saudi airports.
Bin Daghr also addressed recent developments in Yemen, denouncing violations committed by Houthi militias, including the latest targeting of a training center in Shabwa province. He called on Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states to enhance solidarity and coordination to confront the Houthi militias, which he described as a tool for Iran’s expansionist project in the region.
For his part, Ambassador Al-Mutairi emphasized the deep historical and fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries, reiterating Kuwait’s commitment to continuing its humanitarian and developmental support for Yemen to contribute to enhancing security and stability and realizing the Yemeni people’s aspirations for peace and prosperity.
Earlier, Yemen’s Parliament Speaker Sultan Al-Barakani held talks with Kuwaiti Ambassador Falah Al-Mutairi on bilateral relations and ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries. Al-Barakani praised the deep historical and fraternal ties uniting Yemen and Kuwait, rooted in solidarity, mutual support, and a shared destiny. He commended Kuwait’s stance alongside the Yemeni people over decades and its developmental and humanitarian support in education, health, and other vital sectors.
During the meeting, the Parliament Speaker outlined the Houthi escalation and violations committed by the militias against civilians, pointing to “repeated shelling targeting residential neighborhoods in Taiz with Iranian missiles.” He stressed that Taiz, given its national and republican significance and the resilience shown by its people against the Houthi militias, has remained resistant to attempts to subdue it.
He strongly condemned Houthi militia attacks targeting civilian infrastructure and airports in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, affirming that the security and stability of Saudi Arabia constitute a fundamental pillar for the security of Yemen and the Arab region. He stated that any threat to Saudi territory and security affects regional security and necessitates solidarity in confronting attacks that threaten stability.
For his part, Ambassador Al-Mutairi reaffirmed Kuwait’s unwavering support for Yemeni legitimacy and its steadfastness alongside the Yemeni people, continuing to provide humanitarian and relief aid through authorized channels. He highlighted Kuwait’s commitment to maintaining its humanitarian and developmental role and strengthening its fraternal relations with Yemen in a manner that serves the interests of both brotherly peoples, helps alleviate the suffering of Yemenis, and contributes to achieving security and stability.
