Washington, Oct 19 (KUNA) — U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Monday that his negotiations with the Russian side include the Iran file, alongside the files of Ukraine, diesel, and hostages. Trump told reporters, “I am negotiating with them (Russia) regarding an agreement related to Ukraine, and I am also negotiating with them about Iran, and they have shown very good behavior on this file.” He added, “I am also negotiating with them regarding the hostages and also about diesel.”

Regarding Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump said, “Zelensky is a man who should have ended this war a long time ago. Had he listened to me, he would have reached a much better agreement long ago, and a million people would still be alive. Therefore, it is time for someone else to negotiate on behalf of Ukraine.”

Trump’s remarks about Zelensky came a day after he launched a sharp attack on his Ukrainian counterpart over the war with Russia, accusing him of “not wanting” to end it. On Sunday, Trump posted on his Truth Social platform, “I am currently negotiating to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, and I do not want to take any step that would push Moscow to withdraw from negotiations,” noting that he has made “significant progress” so far.

He clarified that the Ukrainian president bears responsibility for obstructing the path to peace with Russia, stating, “Zelensky never wanted to end the war, despite the huge sums of money Europe has provided him. He could have reached a better agreement two years ago than what he can achieve now.” Trump also accused the Ukrainian president of “not caring” about the targeting of diesel refineries inside Russia and the severe damage it inflicts on global diesel markets, including those in the United States.

He emphasized the importance of the agreement he signed with Russian President Vladimir Putin last week to supply additional diesel shipments to the world at “reduced” prices. (End) R.S.R / R.J
