Algiers, October 19 (KUNA) -- Kuwait’s Ambassador to Algeria, Nawaf Al-Boushbe, held talks today, Monday, with Algerian Minister of State and Grand Imam of the Great Mosque of Algiers, Sheikh Mohammed Al-Qasmi, on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the religious field and the need for coordination to facilitate exchanges of visits and expertise.

The Kuwaiti Embassy in Algeria said in a statement that Ambassador Al-Boushbe praised during his meeting with Sheikh Al-Qasmi the status of the Great Mosque of Algiers and its religious and cultural role. The statement clarified that the meeting provided an opportunity to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral religious cooperation and deepen ties between the institutions affiliated with the mosque, notably the Center for Research in Religious Sciences, the Center for Dialogue among Civilizations, and the National Higher School of Islamic Sciences (Dar Al-Quran), with Islamic bodies in the State of Kuwait.

It noted that both sides expressed their aspiration to exchange official visits and coordinate consultations in areas of mutual interest, while commending the role of the Great Mosque of Algiers as a beacon for promoting values of moderation and centrism and combating extremist and hateful rhetoric. They also commended the mosque’s supervisors and their efforts to safeguard the teachings and noble values of Islam. (End) M.R. / M.A. H.A.
