Cairo, Oct 19 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Badr Abdelatty, affirmed on Monday his country’s commitment to supporting efforts to develop African infrastructure and strengthen regional connectivity among the continent’s countries. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that Abdelatty’s stance came during his meeting with Lérato Matapoga, Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy of the African Union, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the fields of energy and infrastructure and to advance development and continental integration efforts. The statement clarified that Abdelatty stressed the importance of accelerating the implementation of projects included in Africa’s infrastructure development program, as well as building on the outcomes of the Africa-El Alamein Forum hosted by Egypt earlier this month, which provided a platform to mobilize financing and investments and to strengthen partnerships between governments and the private sector. He expressed Egypt’s readiness to share its expertise with all African countries in the field of infrastructure, noting that requests to benefit from Egypt’s experience and expertise in infrastructure have increasingly become a recurring item in Egyptian-African meetings in recent years. Abdelatty outlined several successful examples of major projects undertaken by Egyptian companies operating across the African continent, considering them among the most important forms of integration and cooperation that African countries have long aspired to achieve.
