Aden, October 19 (KUNA) -- Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi ordered on Monday that all necessary measures be taken to respond to a rocket attack launched by Houthi militias using three ballistic missiles on a camp for the reception and training of new recruits in Shabwa province, eastern Yemen, which resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries.

The state-owned Yemeni News Agency (Saba) reported that al-Alimi, during a phone call with Shabwa Governor Awad bin al-Wazir, was briefed on the latest developments regarding the attack, which targeted a column of new recruits from various governorates across the country.

Al-Alimi stressed that targeting recruits reflects the Houthi militias’ pattern of resorting to terrorist attacks whenever they face pressure or their Iran-backed plans stall. He directed relevant authorities to provide adequate medical care for the wounded, care for the families of the martyrs, and complete the procedures for settling their affairs and disbursing their salaries.

He expressed his condolences to the victims’ families and wished the wounded a speedy recovery, emphasizing that these attacks would not deter the state from continuing its responsibilities to protect citizens and restore its national institutions, nor would these sacrifices go in vain.

Earlier on Monday, the official spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, Brigadier General Majid al-Nazili, stated that Houthi militias had targeted a training center for members of security and police forces in Shabwa with three ballistic missiles, noting that the militias deliberately target and kill Yemenis across various governorates.

Yemeni military and security sources reported that dozens of people were killed and injured in the attack on the “Al-Alam” camp in the Jirdan district of Shabwa province, with no official casualty figures released so far. (End) S.N.S./A.B.G
