Kuwait City, Oct 19 (KUNA) -- Hamad Al-Marzouq, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Kuwait Finance House (KFH), announced today, Monday, that the bank achieved net profits of 523.4 million Kuwaiti dinars (approximately $1.7 billion) in the first nine months of this year, representing a growth rate of 6.2 percent compared to the same period last year.
In a press statement, Al-Marzouq said that earnings per share reached 27.56 fils for the first nine months of this year, reflecting a growth rate of 5.4 percent over the same period last year. He noted that net financing revenues rose to 989.5 million dinars (approximately $3.2 billion) by the end of the third quarter of 2026, marking a 4.8 percent annual increase.
He clarified that total operating revenues increased through the end of the third quarter, supported by growth across all main activities, reaching 1.4 billion dinars (approximately $4.6 billion), a 6.7 percent annual increase. He added that as a result of expense control and cost rationalization, total operating expenses decreased by 3 percent compared to the same period last year.
Furthermore, net operating income through the end of the third quarter rose to approximately 1 billion dinars (around $3.3 billion), achieving a growth rate of 11.7 percent. This improvement was driven by the increase in total operating revenues and the decline in total operating expenses, which enhanced the cost-to-income ratio to 30.8 percent by the end of the third quarter, down from 33.9 percent in the same period last year.
He pointed out that the financing receivables balance stood at 23.4 billion dinars (approximately $77.2 billion) at the end of the third quarter of this year, up 7.5 percent compared to the end of last year. Total assets reached 43.8 billion dinars (approximately $144.5 billion) by the end of the third quarter, reflecting a 2.4 percent increase compared to the end of last year.
Al-Marzouq stated that total shareholders’ equity at the end of the third quarter of this year amounted to 5.7 billion dinars (approximately $18.8 billion), while customer deposits stood at around 22.7 billion dinars (approximately $74.9 billion), up 7.8 percent compared to the end of last year. The capital adequacy ratio reached 17.22 percent.
He noted that KFH’s continued strong performance through the end of the third quarter of 2026 confirms the success of its established strategy and its ability to achieve sustainable and balanced growth, enhance operational efficiency, and make optimal use of resources and assets, thereby reinforcing its financial position and strengthening its standing in the banking sector.
He added that developments in the country’s business environment, along with supportive legislative and regulatory steps for economic and financial activity—such as the Real Estate Financing Law, the Sukuk Law, and previously the Law on Borrowing from the Future Generations Reserve, as well as financing and liquidity laws—represent positive factors that enhance the capacity of the private sector and financial institutions to grow and contribute to economic development.
For his part, Khaled Al-Shamlan, Chief Executive Officer of the KFH Group, said in the statement that the bank’s strong performance through the end of the third quarter of this year, accompanied by continued profit growth, confirms the operational efficiency and robustness of the Group’s business model, and its ability to deliver strong and sustainable results despite the economic and geopolitical conditions affecting the region and Kuwait.
Al-Shamlan added that the diversification of revenue sources and the geographic distribution of the group’s operations, which span 10 countries worldwide through a network of more than 600 branches, represent one of the factors supporting performance stability and revenue growth, alongside the bank’s continued development of its financing and credit capabilities and its ability to meet the needs of individual and corporate customers.
