Amir of Kuwait and French President Attend Signing of Agreements Between Kuwait and France

Kuwait City, October 19 (KUNA) -- In the presence of His Highness the Amir of the State, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God protect him, and His Excellency Emmanuel Macron, President of the friendly French Republic, and His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, may God protect him, and His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister, agreements were signed today at Bayan Palace between the State of Kuwait and the friendly French Republic, as follows:

1. A Letter of Intent on Defense Cooperation between the Kuwait Ministry of Defense and the French Ministry of Armed Forces and Veterans, signed on behalf of the Government of the State of Kuwait by Sheikh Abdullah Ali Al-Salim Al-Sabah, Minister of Defense, and on behalf of the Government of the French Republic by Ms. Catherine Vautrin, Minister of Armed Forces and Veterans.

2. A Declaration of Intent between the Government of the State of Kuwait and the Government of the French Republic on cooperation in the field of civil aviation, signed on behalf of the Government of the State of Kuwait by Sheikh Abdullah Ali Al-Salim Al-Sabah, Minister of Defense, and on behalf of the Government of the French Republic by Mr. Jean-Noel Barrot, Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs.

3. An exploratory cooperation declaration in the fields of data and artificial intelligence between the State Minister for Communications and Information Technology and the French company Bertem, signed on behalf of the Government of the State of Kuwait by Mr. Omar Saud Abdulaziz Al-Omair, State Minister for Communications and Information Technology and Acting Minister of Media and Culture, and on behalf of Bertem by Mr. Charles Henry Bough, Chief Executive Officer of the company.

4. A Declaration of Intent between the Government of the State of Kuwait and the Government of the French Republic to enhance cooperation for academic, scientific, and technical collaboration, signed on behalf of the Government of the State of Kuwait by Sheikh Jaraah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and on behalf of the Government of the French Republic by Mr. Jean-Noel Barrot, Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs.

5. A Declaration of Intent between the Government of the State of Kuwait and the Government of the French Republic on cooperation in promoting direct investment, signed on behalf of the Government of the State of Kuwait by Sheikh Dr. Meshal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Director General of the Direct Investment Promotion Authority, and on behalf of the Government of the French Republic by Mr. Jean-Noel Barrot, Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs.

6. A Declaration of Intent between the Public Authority for Investment in the State of Kuwait and Airbus regarding strategic cooperation in the aviation sector, signed on behalf of the Government of the State of Kuwait by Sheikh Saud Salim Abdulaziz Al-Sabah, Managing Member of the Public Authority for Investment, and on behalf of Airbus by Mr. Benoit de Saint Exupery, Executive Vice President for Commercial Aircraft Sales at Airbus.

7. A joint Declaration of Intent among the Kuwait Public Authority for Investment, the Kuwait Ministry of Health, and the Gustave Roussy Institute, signed on behalf of the Government of the State of Kuwait by Sheikh Saud Salim Abdulaziz Al-Sabah, Managing Member of the Public Authority for Investment, and Sheikh Dr. Salman Khalifa Abdullah Al-Sabah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, and on behalf of the Institute by Mr. Fabrice Barlesi, President.

8. A Memorandum of Understanding between the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences and Airbus in Africa and the Middle East, signed on behalf of the State of Kuwait by Dr. Amira Farhan, Director General of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, and on behalf of Airbus by Mr. Gabriel Semelas, Managing Director of Airbus in Africa and the Middle East and Head of the Africa and Middle East Region.
