Brussels, October 18 (KUNA) -- The European Union on Sunday “strongly condemned” an attack carried out by Israeli settlers on Saturday against European diplomats who were visiting the West Bank. In a statement, EU spokesperson Christian Wigand said, “The European Union strongly condemns the latest attacks carried out by violent settlers in the West Bank, including those targeting European diplomats,” emphasizing the need to ensure full accountability and take effective measures to prevent the continuation of violence and harassment against Palestinians and journalists. He added that this includes attacks on Palestinians during the ongoing olive harvest season, stressing the necessity of putting an end to such practices. The EU renewed its call for the Israeli occupation to fully comply with international humanitarian law and international human rights law, and to halt settlement expansion. (End) A.R.N. / N.S.A.
