Kuwait City, October 18 (KUNA) — The Ministry of Education announced the opening of registration for the National “Trainee Teacher” program, aimed at attracting qualified Kuwaiti university graduates with non-education backgrounds. Registration runs from today, Sunday, until next Thursday via the “Dal” electronic platform, with the goal of preparing nationally qualified educational and professional cadres to meet school needs for the 2026–2027 academic year.

In a press statement, the Ministry specified that the targeted disciplines include various scientific, literary, and artistic fields, such as mathematics, sciences, chemistry, physics, biology, geology, French, philosophy, Chinese, Spanish, law, commercial and industrial specialties, electricity, electronics, computer science, and music education.

It clarified that the total number of positions required across all announced specialties is 1,020 male and female teachers, all of whom must be Kuwaitis. Registration is open to citizens whether they are registered with the Civil Service Bureau as job seekers or not, provided they meet the approved criteria and conditions for joining the program.

The Ministry added that submitting an application does not constitute final acceptance, as candidate selection depends on meeting the stipulated conditions and the Ministry’s needs in the specified specialties.

The Ministry outlined the eligibility requirements for the program as follows: the applicant must be a Kuwaiti national, not exceed 35 years of age at the time of application, hold a bachelor’s degree in one of the required specialties, and submit a certificate of no criminal record issued by the Ministry of Interior, a drug test certificate, and pass the prescribed medical examination in accordance with approved regulations and procedures.

The program spans one academic year and follows a qualification pathway that combines 45 percent theoretical study with 55 percent field training. This approach aims to enable participants to acquire and apply the necessary educational and professional knowledge and skills in real classroom settings under supervision and evaluation, thereby enhancing their ability to meet the demands of educational work.

The Ministry emphasized that the National “Trainee Teacher” program represents one of the key developmental initiatives aimed at building a sustainable teacher preparation system based on professional qualification, competency standards, and actual needs. This initiative seeks to strengthen the participation of national cadres in developing education and supports the preparation of qualified Kuwaiti male and female teachers who can contribute to improving educational outcomes and achieving the goals of the educational system.
