Bahrain and Russian Foreign Ministers Discuss Regional Developments and Efforts to Halt Escalation

Manama, October 18 (KUNA) -- Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani held talks with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, on Saturday evening, discussing regional developments and regional and international efforts aimed at halting escalation and preserving regional security and stability. The Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported that the meeting took place on the occasion of Minister Lavrov’s visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain to participate in the ministerial meeting of the Strategic Dialogue between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and the Russian Federation. The agency clarified that the two sides discussed prospects for enhancing coordination and diplomatic consultation between the two countries at the UN Security Council, leveraging Russia’s permanent membership and Bahrain’s non-permanent membership for the period 2026–2027, in relation to various issues and challenges under consideration by the Council. It added that the meeting also addressed the close friendship ties between the two countries and ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest, which would bring benefits to both countries and their friendly peoples.
