Aden, Oct 17 (KUNA) -- The Yemeni Armed Forces announced on Saturday the execution of attacks on positions, fortifications, and reinforcements of the militias across several fronts, and the continuation of their military operations against the Houthi militias in the provinces of Ma’rib, Al-Jawf, and Ta’iz, as part of Operation “Fajr al-Yemen” (Yemen’s Dawn).
The media center of the Yemeni Armed Forces stated that army units in Ma’rib province carried out combat and offensive operations on the northern and southern fronts, with the participation of artillery and unmanned aerial vehicles, targeting Houthi militia positions, fortifications, and military capabilities along the lines of confrontation.
It added that the armed forces in Al-Jawf province attacked militia positions and fortifications on the southeastern fronts of the province, while artillery and unmanned aerial vehicles targeted Houthi barracks and concentrations, destroying and damaging combat vehicles. Additionally, combat aircraft launched strikes on militia warehouses, centers, and concentrations.
In Ta’iz province, where the fiercest fighting has been raging for about two months, military sources reported that government forces repelled a Houthi militia offensive in the areas of the old airport and Madarat, west of the city, inflicting human and material losses on the attackers. Combat aircraft also struck militia positions around Jabal Han, west of the city, in two airstrikes.
The sources noted that government forces also thwarted another attack on the Al-Shaqb front, south of Ta’iz, coinciding with aerial strikes targeting Houthi militia positions.
The Ta’iz military axis announced late Friday that 378 Houthi militia members were killed and injured during clashes and airstrikes witnessed on the Al-Masrak and Al-Shaqb fronts and around the besieged city for the third consecutive week. It clarified that the toll included 168 killed and 210 wounded, according to the axis’s media center.
In a related development, the Yemeni Armed Forces and security forces called on their personnel in areas under Houthi control in Ta’iz province not to respond to summonses and recall orders issued by the militias, and warned against attempts to lure them into recruitment and mobilization.
