Ramallah, October 17 (KUNA) -- Palestinian Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh condemned on Saturday the attack by settlers on foreign diplomats near the city of Ramallah in the West Bank. In a press statement, al-Sheikh said, “This is a microcosm of the daily terrorism endured by our Palestinian people, which calls for a firm international stance to impose international protection for the Palestinian people.” The Palestinian News Agency (Wafa) reported today that masked settlers attacked vehicles belonging to European missions in the village of Taybeh, east of Ramallah in the West Bank. Wafa quoted local sources as saying that a number of armed settlers, wielding batons, attacked delegations from European diplomatic missions as they were leaving the village. The sources added that the attackers smashed the windows of a vehicle belonging to the Belgian Consulate and demanded that passengers and diplomats show their identification cards, while video footage showed one of the consuls being forced to the ground.
