London, October 16 (KUNA) -- Britain announced on Friday that it had held a new round of bilateral talks with Germany to explore ways to enhance military-industrial cooperation, in line with the recommendations of the Trinity House agreement and the Kensington Treaty, which the two countries officially ratified last week.
The British Ministry of Defence said in a statement that Luke Pollard, Minister for Defence Readiness and Industry, met yesterday with his German counterpart, Jans Plutner, before they participated in extensive discussions with heads of military companies to discuss industrial priorities for bilateral cooperation.
The statement clarified that the meeting, which also brought together senior officials and military leaders from both countries, reviewed progress made in joint defense capability programs. It added that ways to deepen the industrial partnership between the two countries were also discussed, noting that they are leading defense powers within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
It pointed out that the talks in this meeting were based on the Trinity House agreement, signed in October 2024, which established an ambitious program for bilateral cooperation in the air, land, sea, space, and cyberspace domains.
The statement explained that this agreement falls under the broader Kensington Treaty, which provides the strategic framework for the relationship between London and Berlin. It added that among the key programs on the agenda was the "Precision Deep Strike" program, aimed at developing capabilities for directing long-range missile strikes.
These talks follow British Prime Minister Andy Burnham’s visit to Berlin last Thursday, during which the Kensington Treaty was officially ratified and a new partnership between the two countries was announced to address hybrid threats and enhance cooperation in several industrial, economic, and technological fields.
