Aden, Oct 15 (KUNA) -- The Yemeni Cabinet on Thursday condemned the Houthi militia’s missile and drone attack on the Ma’ashiq Palace in the interim capital of Aden, confirming that the assault resulted in the death and injury of several guards and palace staff. In a statement, the Cabinet said the targeting underscores the militia’s continued pattern of attacking civilians and civilian facilities, as well as its inability to confront the Yemeni people’s will to restore state institutions and end the coup. It added that the attack would not undermine the resolve of the state and the government, nor deter them from fulfilling their national and constitutional duties and from continuing efforts to restore state institutions and end the coup. The Cabinet affirmed that Aden would remain the center for the work of state institutions, and that intimidation attempts would not succeed in disrupting public life. The statement noted that the attack on Ma’ashiq Palace comes amid the Houthi militia’s ongoing escalation and the battle to restore the state, which is advancing through the “Yemen Dawn” operation aimed at extending state authority over all Yemeni territories, ultimately reaching the capital, Sanaa. It pointed out that Houthi militia attacks have also targeted civilian figures and vital facilities in Saudi Arabia, as well as residential neighborhoods in Yemen’s Taiz and Lahij governorates, endangering civilian lives and threatening Yemen’s security, that of neighboring countries, and regional stability. The Cabinet called on the international community and the United Nations to adopt a clear and firm stance against these attacks, to avoid treating them as isolated incidents detached from their broader context, and to exert the necessary pressure to stop the targeting of civilians and civilian facilities and to hold those responsible for violations accountable. It stressed that the government would not back down in the face of threats, and that the restoration of the republic would remain a national goal, emphasizing that Yemen’s future would not be held hostage by militias that wield weapons against their own people and threaten the security of their neighbors. Earlier today, Yemeni media reported that the presidential Ma’ashiq Palace had been targeted by several ballistic missiles and drones launched by the Houthi militia from areas under their control, amid a military escalation in Yemen that has been intensifying for years.
