Cairo, Oct 15 (KUNA) -- Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi affirmed today, Thursday, that the geopolitical changes in the region are “significant and profound,” noting that attacks on Saudi Arabia affect Egypt’s and the Arab world’s national security. In his speech during the Police Academy’s graduation ceremony for the 2026 cohort, al-Sisi stressed that Egypt and Saudi Arabia are the “heart of the Arab and Islamic nations,” and that any harm inflicted on either country would affect the other, affirming that the national security of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the Gulf Arab states is “interlinked.” He further emphasized that Egypt does not accept any infringement on the Kingdom’s security and borders, and also rejects any threat to the security of the Red Sea and international maritime passages, adding, “What matters to us is the security of the Kingdom, safeguarding it, its stability, and de-escalation.” The Egyptian president pointed to risks along Egypt’s southern and western borders, stressing that Egypt had been striving and exerting every effort to avoid conflict in Sudan. In this regard, he stated that stability in Sudan, Libya, and the Gaza Strip are imperative for Arab and Egyptian national security, noting that he had emphasized in all his meetings and communications with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu since 2014 that the establishment of a Palestinian state would benefit all parties and lead to lasting peace and stability in the region.
