Aden, October 14 (KUNA) — Yemeni Prime Minister Shuaib Mohsen al-Zandani on Wednesday condemned the Houthi militias’ targeting of civilians and the siege imposed on the city of Ta’izz, describing these acts as “war crimes that are not subject to statutes of limitation and whose perpetrators will not escape accountability.”
Al-Zandani’s stance came during a phone call with Ta’izz Governor Nabil Shamsan to assess the humanitarian and service conditions, as well as the repercussions of the siege and the violations suffered by civilians under the restrictions imposed by the Houthi militias on the delivery of food, medicine, water, fuel, and essential services.
According to the state-run Yemeni News Agency, al-Zandani praised the resilience of Ta’izz’s residents and the role of popular resistance and the armed forces in defending the city. He affirmed that his government is working in coordination with the local authority to address the consequences of the siege and Houthi military escalation, while mobilizing available resources to alleviate the suffering of the population, enhance responses to humanitarian and service needs, and follow up on issues concerning Ta’izz citizens.
He called on the international community, the United Nations, and human rights and humanitarian organizations to fulfill their responsibilities and take urgent action to lift the siege on Ta’izz and protect its civilians, emphasizing the importance of documenting violations and conveying the true state of humanitarian conditions to local and international public opinion.
