National Committee for Combating Money Laundering holds meeting to follow up on efforts to strengthen the system and consolidate cooperation among relevant authorities

Kuwait City, 14 Oct (KUNA) -- The National Committee for Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism, chaired by Dr. Hamad Al-Mukarram, held a meeting to follow up on national efforts aimed at strengthening the relevant framework and consolidating cooperation and coordination among concerned entities. Dr. Al-Mukarram, who also serves as chairman of the Financial Intelligence Unit, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Wednesday that the meeting, which he chaired and which was attended by members of the committee and representatives of the relevant entities, addressed several agenda items related to monitoring the implementation of the national plan and strategy in this field. He clarified that the meeting reviewed recent developments in combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism, as well as ways to enhance coordination mechanisms and the exchange of information and expertise among concerned entities, thereby contributing to improved performance and strengthened compliance with international standards and requirements. Dr. Al-Mukarram emphasized the importance of continuing joint efforts among concerned entities and intensifying initiatives to develop the money laundering and terrorist financing countermeasures framework, in order to enhance the effectiveness of measures taken and support the achievement of national strategic objectives. He also stressed the commitment to strengthening institutional cooperation and coordination frameworks and exchanging expertise and information in accordance with established protocols, which contributes to keeping pace with relevant developments and supports the efficiency of national work in this field.
