Manama, 14 October (KUNA) -- The Kingdom of Bahrain expressed its strong condemnation and deep outrage today, Wednesday, over the continued heinous attacks by the Iran-backed Houthi militia on civilian, economic, and vital facilities in the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including the launching of missiles and drones toward cities such as Riyadh, Dammam, Khamis Mushait, and other areas.

In a statement, the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that these attacks constitute a serious escalation and a blatant violation of international law, international humanitarian law, and the UN Charter, posing a threat to the lives of civilians and to regional security and stability.

The ministry reaffirmed Bahrain’s full solidarity with the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its complete support for all measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and stability, as well as to protect its citizens and residents on its territory. It also endorsed Saudi Arabia’s inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, stressing that the security and stability of Saudi Arabia are an integral part of the security of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.

Bahrain praised the efficiency and high readiness of the Saudi armed forces in confronting and thwarting these heinous attacks, and expressed its wishes for the swift recovery of those injured by fragments of intercepted missiles.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Bahrain’s call upon the UN Security Council to take firm measures to halt the repeated, heinous Houthi attacks targeting civilians and civilian objects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to hold perpetrators and their backers accountable, and to ensure the implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolutions 2216 (2015), 2722 (2024), and 2817 (2026). These measures would contribute to protecting civilians, ensuring the security, safety, and freedom of navigation in the air and at sea, safeguarding energy supplies and global trade flows, and preserving regional and international peace and security.
