Kuwait City, October 14 (KUNA) – Al-Kuwait SC secured a 3-1 victory over Bahrain’s Al-Khalidiya SC today, Wednesday, in the second round of the AFC Champions League Two 2026-27 season.

The match, held at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium, saw Al-Kuwait aiming to bolster their chances of securing one of the two spots available to advance to the round of 16, following their previous setback against the UAE’s Al-Ittihad Kalba (now known as Al-Ittihad Club, UAE) with a 2-3 defeat.

The first half witnessed cautious play from both sides, with Al-Kuwait holding a slight edge. Faisal Zayed gave Al-Kuwait the lead in the 46th minute.

In the second half, Yusuf Nasser doubled Al-Kuwait’s advantage with a penalty kick in the 65th minute. Al-Khalidiya reduced the deficit in the 80th minute through Gleison Moreira. However, Yusuf Nasser sealed the win by scoring Al-Kuwait’s third goal in the 96th minute, securing all three points for his team.

Group A also includes the UAE’s Al-Ittihad and Uzbekistan’s Nasaf Qarshi.

The group stage follows a home-and-away league format, with each team playing six matches. The top two teams in each group will advance to the round of 16.

The AFC Champions League Two features 32 clubs and is the second-tier continental club competition in Asia. It was launched under its current format in the 2024-25 season, replacing the AFC Cup.

Japanese side Gamba Osaka holds the title from the previous edition (2025-26). (End) M.Y.M.
