Moscow, October 14 (KUNA) -- The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned on Wednesday what is known as NATO’s “theory of victory,” describing it as paving the way for preemptive strikes against Belarus and warning that the alliance’s military rhetoric is laying the groundwork for heightened security tensions in the region. State media quoted the ministry as saying that “statements issued by the alliance have become more systematic regarding preparations for potential military operations, despite there being no justification, from Belarus’s standpoint, for a conflict with the country.” The ministry added that Minsk does not threaten any state and calls for de-escalation and the resolution of disputes through political and diplomatic means, emphasizing that the alliance’s military posture raises concerns about regional security and stability. Belarus’s position follows the proposal by the Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO, General Alexus Grynkewich, of the “theory of victory” during the Warsaw Security Forum last Monday, as part of a strategy aimed at making any potential attack on allied territories militarily “futile.” According to media reports, the concept is based on preventing an adversary from establishing a foothold within NATO territory and disrupting its combat capabilities, including defensive movements before it can continue any offensive, while also addressing the possibility of handling simultaneous threats in the European and Indo-Pacific theaters. These developments come amid ongoing security tensions between Russia and Western countries and growing concerns about the security of NATO’s eastern flank, as assessments vary regarding the nature of military movements and the risks of escalation in the region. Belarus, a Russian ally, has consistently stressed in its official positions the need to strengthen its security in the face of what it describes as external threats, while NATO maintains that enhancing its military capabilities is aimed at deterring any potential attack on member states and protecting their territories.
