Moscow, October 14 (KUNA) -- Kirill Dmitriev, the Russian President’s Special Representative for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, said on Wednesday that the deal to supply Russian diesel to the United States serves the interests of both countries and contributes to supporting global market stability. In remarks to journalists on the sidelines of the International Forum (Russian Energy Week), held in Moscow from October 14 to 16, Dmitriev stressed that economic cooperation between Moscow and Washington would continue despite what he described as European attempts to obstruct it. He said the deal had faced criticism despite the benefits it brings to Russia and the United States, as well as its contribution to stabilizing global markets. He added that Moscow would continue economic cooperation with Washington in accordance with directives from Russian President Vladimir Putin, despite what he characterized as European efforts to hinder this cooperation, following U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement last Friday of a phone conversation with Putin that he described as “extremely successful.” President Trump had announced last Friday that an agreement had been reached regarding Russian diesel supplies to U.S. and global markets, noting that the deal includes successive shipments starting with more than 300,000 tons immediately, followed by additional shipments according to the capacity of Russian refineries.
