Tunis, Oct 13 (KUNA) -- The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) reaffirmed on Tuesday its commitment to engaging with all Libyan parties to advance the political process in line with the road map, building on the outcomes of the structured dialogue and the agreement reached by the mini-summit meeting. The Libyan News Agency reported that this statement came during a meeting in New York between the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative, Hanna Tetteh, and Libya’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Taher Sini. The two sides discussed UN efforts aimed at advancing a political process led and owned exclusively by Libyans. The agency added that Tetteh will brief the UN Security Council tomorrow, Wednesday, on the latest developments in Libya’s political situation, as part of the Council’s regular sessions on Libya held every 60 days. During the briefing, she is expected to discuss the renewal of the UNSMIL mandate, which expires on October 31. The session takes place amid rapid political developments in Libya, most notably the recent changes in the presidency of the House of Representatives and the agreement reached by the mini-dialogue committee (4+4), which was signed on August 30. She noted that the briefing will cover the key political developments and UN efforts aimed at supporting stability and completing Libya’s democratic transition. (End) S.B.M. / H.M.F.
