Aden, Oct 13 (KUNA) -- The Yemeni Armed Forces announced on Tuesday the execution of 2,200 precise strike operations against the capabilities and positions of the Houthi militias as part of the “Fajr al-Yemen” (Yemen’s Dawn) operation on the eastern and southern fronts, confirming ground advances and the neutralization of approximately 1,200 militia fighters.
In a statement, Brigadier General Majid al-Nazili, official spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, said the operations were carried out by combat aircraft, drones, field artillery, rocket launchers, and sniper units. They targeted command and control centers, fortifications, firing positions, observation and reconnaissance points, assembly areas, arms and ammunition depots, and transport and supply logistics.
He added that the strikes focused on dismantling the militias’ defensive system and hitting high-value military targets in the depth, noting that initial field assessments indicate the destruction and damage of more than 440 military vehicles, trucks, and other military equipment across various operational axes.
He clarified that concentrated strikes in Taiz Governorate targeted militia convoys and reinforcements, dispersing their assemblies and disrupting their ability to reinforce their positions and reorganize their forces.
He pointed out that engineering units on the western front continued clearing recovered sites and areas of mines and explosive devices planted by the militias, securing roads and passages to protect civilians and facilitate their return.
The statement affirmed that the strikes were conducted against legitimate military targets in accordance with the rules of international humanitarian law and the principles of distinction, proportionality, and necessary precautions. (End) S.N.S./R.J.
