Riyadh, 13 October (KUNA) -- The official spokesperson for the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, announced on Tuesday the execution of a targeted operation against specific sites aimed at neutralizing the capabilities of the Houthi militias used to threaten the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Yemen, the southern Red Sea, and international waterways.
In a statement, Major General Al-Maliki said that the Coalition’s joint forces command had confirmed the Houthi militias’ use of civilian infrastructure and vital facilities to fuel their war effort, including the Al-Sabahah Central Power Station in Sanaa, underground fuel storage depots, fuel tanks, and docks designated for the transfer and unloading of fuel in Al-Hudaydah, Sanaa, and Dhamar.
He clarified that the militias were using these sites to support their military operations and deprive the Yemeni people of resources that should legitimately be allocated to meet their needs, noting that they had diverted them to support their arsenal of missiles and drones that threaten the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the safety of airports, ports, and commercial vessels in the Red Sea.
He added that the use of these sites had contributed to hostile attacks against civilians and civilian objects, as well as the planning of imminent attacks targeting civilian assets in the Kingdom and commercial vessels in international waterways.
Major General Al-Maliki reaffirmed the Coalition forces’ strict adherence to international humanitarian law, pointing out that all feasible precautions were taken to avoid incidental loss of life or injury to civilians during the planning and execution of the operation.
He stressed the urgent need for the Houthis to immediately cease all terrorist operations targeting civilians and civilian objects, including airports, ports, oil facilities, and infrastructure. (End) A.S. / R.J.
