Beijing, October 13 (KUNA) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed on Tuesday his country’s resolve to play a constructive role in achieving a comprehensive ceasefire that leads to a political settlement and the resumption of negotiations, thereby paving the way for lasting peace in the Middle East. Xinhua News Agency reported that this statement was made during a meeting between Wang and Khaldoon Al Mubarak, the special envoy to the President of the United Arab Emirates for Chinese affairs, in Beijing, during which they exchanged views on bilateral relations between the two countries and international issues of mutual interest.
Xinhua quoted Wang as saying that China remains a builder of peace, a promoter of stability, and a contributor to development in the Middle East, noting that the situation in the region has undergone profound transformations, with conflicts spreading across multiple levels and their expanding scope having a negative impact on security and development. He stressed that embracing peace, rejecting war, prioritizing dialogue over confrontation, and upholding the values of justice while rejecting hegemony have increasingly become a common demand and aspiration among the peoples of the region.
Regarding China–UAE relations, Wang said these ties have become a model for cooperation among countries of the Global South, aimed at achieving developmental rejuvenation, and affirmed Beijing’s readiness to work with Abu Dhabi to elevate these relations to a higher level, despite changes in the international landscape.
For his part, Al Mubarak expressed during the meeting his country’s desire to enhance coordination with China to bolster regional peace and stability, noting that the UAE hopes to strengthen its comprehensive strategic partnership with China. (End) S L Q / F L A
