Lebanese PM reaffirms commitment to achieving full Israeli withdrawal
Beirut, October 12 (KUNA) -- Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam affirmed today, Monday, the continuation of efforts to achieve the complete withdrawal of the Israeli occupation from Lebanese territories. In a statement, Salam said that protecting the Lebanese people, ensuring their safe return to their villages and lands, and clearing war remnants remain at the core of the government’s priorities. He expressed his condolences to the families of the three victims who fell at different times in the southern towns of Frun, Yater, and Ain Ebel, following targeted attacks by Israeli occupation forces. He added that Lebanese in the south have the right to live in safety and harvest their olive crops without fear for their lives, but ongoing Israeli aggressions and war remnants continue to threaten their lives and deprive them of their most basic rights. In a related development, a report issued by the Health Emergency Operations Center of the Lebanese Ministry of Health indicated that the cumulative toll of the Israeli occupation’s aggression on Lebanon from March 2 last year to October 12 this year reached 4,389 killed and 12,424 injured. The report noted that this raises the overall toll of the aggression since October 8, 2023, to date, to 8,956 killed and 30,660 injured. Meanwhile, the Lebanese National News Agency reported that a force from the Israeli occupation army, comprising more than 10 vehicles, infiltrated the southern town of Zaiter al-Sharqiya, while soldiers were seen on foot patrols among homes within the town, coinciding with the flight of drones over the town’s skies.
