Aden, Oct 12 (KUNA) -- The Yemeni Armed Forces announced on Monday the execution of 1,879 targeting operations against military assets belonging to the Houthi militias as part of Operation “Fajr al-Yemen” (Yemen Dawn), which, according to preliminary estimates, resulted in the neutralization of approximately 950 fighters and the destruction or damage of 380 military vehicles and equipment.

Majid al-Nazili, the official spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, said in a statement that the operations were carried out using combat aircraft, drones, field artillery, rocket launchers, and sniper units. They targeted fortifications, defensive positions, command and control centers, artillery and rocket launchers, observation and reconnaissance points, assembly and reinforcement areas, as well as weapons and ammunition depots, and transport and supply vehicles and equipment.

He added that, according to preliminary estimates, the operations neutralized around 950 militia fighters and destroyed or damaged 380 military vehicles and equipment, in addition to suppressing hostile fire sources and disrupting the command, control, and supply systems.

He pointed out that air strikes in Taiz Governorate targeted militia reinforcements and military convoys heading to the front lines, leading to the dispersal of their gatherings, the disruption of their attempts to reinforce their positions, and the hindrance of their efforts to reorganize their forces.

He emphasized that military engineering units continued to clear and secure recovered sites and areas from landmines and explosive devices, ensuring safety for troops and the return of civilians.

He affirmed that the targeting operations were conducted in accordance with the rules of international humanitarian law, the principles of distinction and proportionality, and the necessary precautions taken to protect civilians and civilian objects. (End) S.N.S./A.B.G
