Cairo, October 12 (KUNA) -- The Arab League announced on Monday that an emergency meeting of permanent representatives will be held tomorrow to discuss mechanisms for providing international protection to the Palestinian people and ensuring respect for international law and resolutions of the UN Security Council concerning the legal status of the city of Jerusalem.
In a statement, Dr. Faed Mustafa, Assistant Secretary-General for Palestinian and Occupied Arab Affairs at the League, said the meeting was convened at the request of the State of Palestine and with the support of member states to explore avenues for Arab and international action to confront the escalating attacks by Israeli occupation forces and settlers against members of the Palestinian people and their property, which are protected and backed by the occupation government and its army.
He added that the meeting will also address violations targeting the city of Jerusalem and its international legal status, alongside moves by some countries to open embassies in the city. (End) M.M. / S.M.A.
