King of Bahrain: Iran's despicable attacks and interventions targeted the security of homelands and peoples

Manama, October 11 (KUNA) -- Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa said on Sunday that the region has witnessed increasingly serious developments over the past months, culminating in reprehensible Iranian aggression and interventions that targeted the security of homelands and peoples, without regard for the consequences or the fact that such acts violate international norms, laws, principles of good neighborliness, and shared destiny. These actions have also hindered collective efforts aimed at de-escalation and restoring regional security and peace.

The Bahrain News Agency reported that the king made these remarks during his speech at the opening of the fifth session of the sixth legislative term of Bahrain’s Shura Council and National Assembly.

King Hamad bin Isa added that these events have demonstrated that every stance has its price, and that public opinion in countries affected by these hostile Iranian moves has become more aware of the realities on the ground and more determined to establish justice and consolidate security. He stressed that deterrence begins with a unified stance and clear vision, and is reinforced through diligent efforts to achieve genuine peace that keeps the region away from the dangers of weapons of mass destruction, ensures freedom of navigation, and prevents any infringement on the security of waterways, ultimately benefiting the region and the nation with prosperity.

He expressed satisfaction and pride, highlighting the significant role played by the Bahraini government during this period with high precision, under the direction and follow-up of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. This has ensured the continued provision of services with the expected efficiency and quality, and the return of affairs to their normal course, particularly in economic and living conditions. He affirmed confidence in the government plans devised to address the requirements of the current stage, achieving a balance between the necessities of stability and the demands of development.

The King of Bahrain extended the same gratitude and appreciation to the defense and security forces for their vigilance, effectiveness, and distinction in confronting challenges and threats, as well as the exceptional efforts they have made to protect the homeland and defend its sovereignty. He reaffirmed full commitment to a policy of developing defense and security capabilities and updating their systems, thereby strengthening the country’s security and deterrence with firm resolve and clear victory, God willing.

He stated that, in recognition of these genuine stances, “we announce the designation of June 1 of each year as a national occasion and official holiday, named ‘Day of the Pledge and Loyalty.’ This date coincides with the signing of our Document of Gratitude and Loyalty to the esteemed people of Bahrain, in response to the sincere sentiments expressed in the Pledge and Loyalty documents, which embodied the love of belonging to this noble land and the courage to defend our constants. May this day remain a witness to our national unity in its most splendid form.”

He praised the major historical role of the United States and its steadfast commitment to supporting the Kingdom of Bahrain politically and defensively. This support continues today under the leadership of President Donald Trump, extending a strategic partnership between the two countries. He acknowledged the U.S. role alongside Bahrain in preserving the security and stability of the region.

He clarified that the Kingdom of Bahrain draws its contemporary presence from a state confident in its institutions, keen to safeguard its civilizational heritage, and thus better positioned to play its role in its neighborhood and in the world.

King Hamad bin Isa added that Bahrain’s non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council reflects this conviction and underscores an active foreign policy approach committed to the principles of dialogue and understanding, based on diplomacy for sustainable peace, and fulfilling our country’s commitments to the international community.

In this context, it was noted that a historic milestone was achieved with the adoption by the UN Security Council of Resolution 2817 (2026), which the Kingdom of Bahrain spearheaded on behalf of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and which received the broadest joint sponsorship in the history of the Security Council, in support of peace, security, and stability in the region.
