European Union Strongly Condemns Attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh

Brussels, October 11 (KUNA) – European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen strongly condemned on Sunday the attack carried out by the Houthi militia on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, affirming the European Union’s solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its people. In a post on her official account on the social media platform X, von der Leyen stated that the Houthi militia’s attacks, “which are the deadliest so far, represent a serious escalation that threatens to push the region into a vortex of violence and undermine the stability of vital global transport and energy hubs, with repercussions extending worldwide.” She emphasized the urgent need for an immediate halt to these “deadly attacks” targeting innocent civilians. The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation had previously announced that 12 people were killed and 309 others injured in the attack on King Khalid International Airport on Saturday.
