US Embassy in Beirut: Resumption of air flights with the US reflects confidence in Lebanon's future

Beirut, October 11 (KUNA) -- The U.S. Embassy in Beirut affirmed on Sunday that the resumption of direct flights between Lebanon and the United States reflects confidence in Lebanon’s future. In a statement posted on its X social media account, the U.S. Embassy described the American administration’s decision to lift restrictions on air transport with Lebanon as “an important step that strengthens confidence between our two countries and reflects confidence in Lebanon’s future.” It added that “direct flights will bring families closer, strengthen ties with the Lebanese-American community, and enable U.S. companies to explore opportunities and invest in Lebanon.” The embassy thanked U.S. President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio “for their leadership and efforts in bringing to fruition a long-awaited Lebanese dream of operating direct flights between Lebanon and the United States.” The U.S. Embassy concluded its statement by saying, “We look forward to working with our Lebanese partners to turn this opportunity into a reality that benefits the peoples of our two countries and contributes to enhancing Lebanon’s prosperity.” For his part, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun welcomed on Saturday President Trump’s decision to revoke the presidential decrees imposing restrictions on air transport with Lebanon, affirming that it reflects confidence in the security and precautionary measures undertaken by the Lebanese state.
