Kuwait City, October 11 (KUNA) -- October 11:

1955 – Kuwaiti Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah signs an agreement with Darisi Kuwait Ltd. and Gulf Kuwait Co. for the trading of crude oil and its products in Kuwait.

1964 – Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Salim Al-Sabah issues an emiri decree determining the military materials exempted from the provisions of Law No. 37 of 1964 on Public Tenders, as belonging to the Ministry of Defense and the security forces.

1993 – Kuwait signs the Basel Convention on the Transboundary Movement of Hazardous Wastes.

2000 – Dr. Talal Fahad Al-Azmi wins the position of Regional Advisor for West Asia at the International Conference on Environmental Protection held in Jordan.

2002 – Kuwait national karate team player Ahmed Munir wins the gold medal in the under-75 kilograms category at the 14th Asian Games in Busan, South Korea.

2012 – The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development signs an agreement with the Kingdom of Bahrain to implement two projects for the development of the electrical grid and the construction of a complex for people with special needs, with a total cost of $273 million.

2014 – The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development signs a loan agreement with Tanzania worth 10 million Kuwaiti dinars to contribute to providing drinking water in the Sami and Mwanza districts.

2016 – Former National Assembly MP Falah Al-Sawagh Al-Azmi passes away at the age of 55. The late was a member of the 2009 National Assembly.

2022 – Dr. Fakhri Shahab passes away at the age of 101. He was one of Kuwait’s leading economic experts and the architect of the process that converted the old currency system from the Indian Rupee to the Kuwaiti Dinar, which was adopted as the national currency in 1960. (End) M.B.R. / N.S.N.
