Aden, October 11 (KUNA) -- Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi affirmed early Sunday his country’s full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its condemnation of the attack targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which killed 12 people and injured 309 others of various nationalities. Al-Alimi, through his official account on the social media platform X, stressed the interconnection between the security of Saudi Arabia and Yemen and the interests of their peoples, noting that any attack on Saudi Arabia constitutes an attack on Yemen’s security, interests, and the future of its generations. He added that the attack reflects the terrorist behavior of the Houthi militias and their disregard for civilian lives and regional security, emphasizing his country’s resolve to continue the “Yemen Dawn” operation to end threats and restore state institutions “no matter the sacrifices required.” He praised the fraternal stance of the Kingdom and its continuous support for the Yemeni economy, as well as its efforts to alleviate humanitarian suffering, including recent support for the state budget and announced facilitations to regularize the status of Yemeni residents in the Kingdom. On behalf of himself, members of the Presidential Leadership Council, the government, and the Yemeni people, he extended sincere condolences to the leadership and people of Saudi Arabia and to the victims’ families, wishing the injured a swift recovery. Earlier, Brigadier General Turki al-Maliki, official spokesperson for the forces of the coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen, vowed a firm response to the attack that targeted the passenger terminal at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. Al-Maliki stated that the attack carried out by Houthi militias on Saturday constitutes a complete war crime under international humanitarian law and its customary rules, affirming that the response would be consistent with these rules. The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation announced that 12 people were killed and 309 others injured in the attack, including Saudi nationals and residents of various nationalities, noting that the injured are receiving necessary medical care in several hospitals, with some in critical condition.
