Yemeni Government Condemns Houthi Militia's Attack on King Khalid Airport in Riyadh, Reaffirms Support for Saudi Security

Aden, October 10 (KUNA) -- The Yemeni government condemned on Saturday the attack targeting King Khalid International Airport in the capital Riyadh, affirming its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its steadfast support in confronting threats aimed at its security, sovereignty, and civilian infrastructure.

In a statement received by the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the Yemeni Council of Ministers clarified that targeting airports and civilian facilities constitutes a violation of international laws and norms, and poses a direct threat to the safety of civilians, as well as the security and stability of states.

The statement emphasized that the security of the Kingdom is an integral part of Yemen’s security and that of the region, and that attacks on its territory and facilities undermine the right of the region’s peoples to security, stability, freedom of movement, and the safety of air navigation.

It added that these attacks would not weaken the strong fraternal relations and shared destiny between the two countries, reiterating Yemen’s support for the Kingdom in all measures it takes to protect its security, sovereignty, and vital facilities.

The statement accused the Houthi militia of continuing to threaten the security of Yemen and the region, and of targeting civilian facilities as part of what it described as an Iranian expansionist project aimed at destabilizing the region and threatening international navigation. It noted that the attacks on the Kingdom are an extension of the militia’s violations against Yemenis since its coup against the state.

The Yemeni government reaffirmed its appreciation for the role played by Saudi Arabia and its leadership in supporting Yemen’s legitimate government and backing the Yemeni people in restoring state institutions, and in enhancing the security and stability of the region.

It stressed that these attacks would not deter Yemenis from restoring state authority over the entire territory of the country and ending the Houthi coup, emphasizing that confronting threats to the region’s security requires a responsible international stance that goes beyond condemnation statements to take practical measures ensuring the protection of civilians and safeguarding security and stability.
