Beirut, October 9 (KUNA) -- Kuwait’s Ambassador to Cyprus, Abdullah Al-Turki, held talks today, Friday, with Cypriot Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry Michalis Damianou to explore ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, and energy.

In a telephone interview with the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) following the meeting, Ambassador Al-Turki said the discussions focused on encouraging communication between the relevant authorities and businessmen in both countries to identify available investment opportunities and examine the potential for establishing partnerships and joint projects that would boost trade exchanges.

He added that he emphasized Kuwait’s expertise and capabilities in the oil and gas sectors, as well as the importance of exploring areas of cooperation and exchanging experiences between the relevant authorities in both countries.

The ambassador noted that the Cypriot minister outlined developments in natural gas projects in Cyprus, existing cooperation with sisterly Egypt in this field, as well as energy infrastructure projects, power grid interconnection, and the associated investment opportunities.

Ambassador Al-Turki stated that the meeting also discussed Cyprus’s role in supporting relations between the European Union and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, “based on the distinguished ties linking Cyprus with the GCC states.” (End) F.Z. / R.J.
