Washington, Oct 8 (KUNA) -- U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Thursday the return of the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln to the United States after completing its seven-month mission in the Middle East. CENTCOM said in a statement that “the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln is returning today to its base in California after completing a historic mission in the Middle East.” The statement added that more than 5,000 sailors and Marines participated in supporting thousands of combat air sorties against Iran, covering a distance of over 90,000 nautical miles. The nuclear-powered carrier Lincoln had departed California in November 2025 to take part in operations in the South China Sea before being redirected to the Middle East to join the war against Iran on February 28.
