Pakistani Prime Minister Reiterates Commitment to Enhancing Cooperation with Bahrain Across Various Fields

Islamabad, Oct 8 (KUNA) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed today, Thursday, his country’s commitment to continuing to strengthen cooperation with Bahrain across various fields. The Pakistani Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement that this was expressed during a meeting between Sharif and Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdul Latif Al Zayani, who is currently visiting Pakistan to preside over the third session of the Joint Ministerial Committee between the two countries.

The statement quoted Sharif as welcoming the Bahraini Foreign Minister and conveying his best wishes to the leadership and people of the Kingdom of Bahrain, emphasizing Pakistan’s deep appreciation for the fraternal and historical ties between the two countries, which are based on shared values, mutual trust, and close interaction between the peoples.

He expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of bilateral relations, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to further enhancing cooperation with Bahrain in the fields of trade, investment, energy, and human resource development. Sharif also expressed confidence that the third session of the Joint Ministerial Committee between Pakistan and Bahrain would provide an additional impetus to bilateral cooperation and contribute to deepening the multifaceted relations between the two countries.

For his part, Al Zayani conveyed greetings and best wishes from Bahrain’s leadership to the Pakistani Prime Minister, reaffirming his country’s commitment to continuing to develop bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual benefit. He praised Pakistan’s constructive role and its efforts in mediation aimed at enhancing peace and stability in the region.

The Prime Minister’s Office statement added that the two sides exchanged views on regional and international developments and stressed the importance of continuing consultation and coordination on issues of common interest.

In a related development, Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, during a joint press conference with his Bahraini counterpart, announced the signing of the protocol for the third session of the Joint Ministerial Committee between the two countries.

Ishaq Dar said the protocol includes understandings on cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, agriculture, food security, oil, gas, minerals, maritime affairs, information and communications technology, health, education, labor, and other areas. He added that the two sides agreed to establish a joint working group on trade and investment at the governmental level, to serve as an institutional mechanism for regular consultations, coordination, and cooperation in the fields of trade and investment between the two countries.
