London, Oct 8 (KUNA) -- The British government said on Thursday that British and German technology companies are seeking to strengthen economic partnerships through the first industrial technology corridor of its kind, aiming to open the door to investments, create jobs, and provide more opportunities. In a statement, the British government explained that this new deal coincides with Prime Minister Andy Burnham’s visit to Berlin, adding that the new industrial technology corridor aims to “help companies on both sides of the North Sea establish partnerships with each other, thereby attracting investments, creating new jobs, and adopting advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence to enhance productivity.” The statement added that the initiative, which serves as a bilateral friendship agreement between the United Kingdom and Germany, will be supported by major companies in both countries. It clarified that the initiative “will connect sector leaders, technology companies, and innovators from both countries within the framework of the bilateral strategic partnership in science and technology, opening new horizons for cooperation and contributing to leveraging the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence and biotechnology.” It noted that “the two countries will also share funding of approximately 20 million euros (£17 million) to help accelerate joint research in quantum computing, a key technology shaping the future.” The statement considered quantum computing to be “one of our most important growth drivers, with the potential to add more than £200 billion to the British economy and provide around 100,000 jobs by 2045.” (End) a.s.h / f.s
