Kuwait City, Oct 8 (KUNA) -- The KUNA Media Capacity Development Center concluded on Thursday the training program “Managing News Accounts on Social Media,” with participation from staff members of the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the Direct Investment Promotion Authority, the National Fund for Supporting and Developing Small and Medium Enterprises, and the Financial Markets Authority.
The program, which launched last Sunday and was delivered by Ahmed Al-Sheikh, Deputy Chairman of the Digital Media Council at the British Journalists’ Union, aimed to enhance participants’ skills in managing news accounts on social media platforms, understanding audience and competitor analysis methods, and grasping the nature of content that garners attention and engagement from followers.
The program covered several key topics, including planning for account development, crafting strategies for news accounts, selecting the most suitable platform for each type of news content, and identifying preferred content patterns among audiences. It also addressed developing the visual and editorial identity of social media accounts, planning news content production, and handling crises and breaking news to ensure rapid publication, information accuracy, and the preservation of the credibility of news accounts.
In a statement to KUNA, Al-Sheikh said the program focused on providing a set of practical skills and tools to help media professionals enhance their institutions’ presence on social media platforms and cope with the rapid changes in the digital environment. He added that the success of news accounts depends not only on the speed of publishing news but also on understanding the audience, choosing the right platform, and presenting content in a way that boosts engagement and maintains credibility. He emphasized the importance of having a clear strategy for managing accounts and handling breaking news and crises.
He clarified that the practical component of the program enabled participants to apply several concepts and strategies discussed during the training, helping them to utilize these tools in their work and improve the performance of the news accounts they manage.
Established in December 1995, the KUNA Media Capacity Development Center is one of the most important media training centers, having delivered hundreds of training programs in various media fields.
