Kuwait City, 8 Oct (KUNA) – Public Works Minister Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan stressed today, Thursday, the importance of enhancing readiness, follow-up, and coordination among relevant authorities to ensure swift response to rainwater accumulation and emergency situations.

Speaking while chairing a meeting of the Rainfall and Flash Flood Impacts Committee, attended by committee members and representatives of concerned entities to review preparedness for the rainy season, Minister Al-Mashaan emphasized the need for continued coordination among these authorities and rapid response to any developments during rainy periods.

The meeting reviewed the preparedness of participating entities and their action plans for the rainy season, alongside the readiness of field teams, equipment, and machinery at various sites. It also examined climate forecasts for the coming period, which indicate that rainfall amounts expected in October, November, and December may exceed normal averages, necessitating heightened readiness and preparedness among relevant authorities.

Dr. Al-Mashaan inspected cleaning operations for rainwater drainage inlets and networks, as well as the preparedness of pumping stations and the procedures in place to address sites prone to water accumulation. The meeting discussed the roles of participating entities, their coordination mechanisms, emergency plans, and procedures for managing the impacts of rainfall and flash floods. (End) M.S.A./T.A.B.
