Kuwait City, 7 Oct (KUNA) – The Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Talent and Creativity, one of the centers under the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, has called on schools in the State of Kuwait to register for the STEM Racing 2026/2027 program, one of the most prominent global challenges that applies concepts of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to motorsports, in partnership with Formula 1. The registration deadline is December 16, 2026.
In a press statement on Wednesday, the center said the program targets students in grades nine through eleven, aged 14 to 17, offering them a comprehensive hands-on experience that begins with the design, engineering, and manufacturing of miniature racing cars, leading to national competition and qualification for the international finals in Singapore.
It clarified that each team consists of five to six students, with at least 80 percent being Kuwaiti nationals, and must include a school supervisor. The program aims to develop students’ skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, as well as innovation, problem-solving, teamwork, and project management.
Participation involves several stages, including school visits, assessment, design, and manufacturing, before the national competition, from which the top two teams will qualify to represent Kuwait at the international competition scheduled to be held in Singapore.
The center noted that the program offers awards to winning schools and students. The winning school will receive a fully equipped fabrication lab, sponsored by the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Talent and Creativity, providing a specialized environment that enables students to continue their design, manufacturing, and innovation experiences within the school.
The winning team will also receive a cash prize of $5,000 USD, distributed among team members and the supervisor, serving as an additional incentive for students to enhance their skills and apply their scientific and engineering knowledge in a global competitive setting.
The center emphasized that the fabrication lab represents an investment in the school’s educational environment, offering students the capabilities to transform engineering ideas into feasible models and projects, and strengthening their ability to continue learning and experimenting in technology and manufacturing.
It added that the STEM Racing program provides students with an experience that simulates the environment of global motorsport teams, through collaborative work on developing a miniature racing car across stages that integrate design, engineering, and manufacturing, alongside the development of driving, communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.
The top two teams in the national competition will represent Kuwait at the international competition in Singapore, giving students the opportunity to interact with teams from various countries and gain an international experience that enhances their capabilities and opens new horizons in science, engineering, and technology.
