Aden, Oct 6 (KUNA) -- The Yemeni News Agency reported on Tuesday that six civilians were killed and four others, including women and children, were injured in a Houthi militia shelling of residential villages in the southern part of Taiz governorate, which has been witnessing some of the fiercest fighting between government forces and the militia for weeks.
Citing local sources, the agency said a woman was killed and four civilians, including a child and two women, were injured in a Houthi strike targeting the villages of Al-Dawm, Hajara, and Al-Manawid in the Bani Yousuf area of Al-Mawassit district, south of Taiz.
It added that five members of a single Yemeni family, four of them women and children, were also killed when a mortar shell fired by the Houthi militia struck their home in Al-Sarm village in Al-Masrakha district, adjacent to the center of Taiz governorate in its southern countryside.
The agency noted that civilian casualties resulted from continued Houthi shelling of residential villages in the Quds area in the southern part of the governorate, coinciding with ongoing military clashes between government forces and the Houthi militia at several sites and highlands.
It confirmed that the Houthi militia is besieging several villages, preventing residents and the wounded from leaving the area to seek medical treatment. (End) S.N.S. / M.A.A.
