UK condemns attack on vehicles contracted by World Food Programme in Sudan

London, October 6 (KUNA) -- The United Kingdom condemned on Tuesday an attack targeting vehicles contracted by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in South Kordofan state, Sudan. In a statement on the social media platform X, UK Minister of State for International Development and Africa Kirsty McNeill said, “The United Kingdom condemns the attack on vehicles contracted by the World Food Programme in South Kordofan, which resulted in the death of a driver transporting life-saving aid.” McNeill added that “this attack represents the latest in a series of attacks targeting relief operations in Sudan,” emphasizing that “there is no justification for such acts and those responsible must be held accountable.” The World Food Programme had also strongly condemned the attack, which occurred on October 3, in a separate statement, noting that efforts were ongoing to gather further details about the circumstances, including the extent of damage to the food shipment.
