Pakistan and UN Discuss Regional and International Issues

Islamabad, Oct 6 (KUNA) -- Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres discussed a number of regional and international issues related to peace and security on Tuesday. The Pakistani Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the talks, held at the ministry’s headquarters in the capital Islamabad, addressed developments in Palestine, Jammu and Kashmir, and Afghanistan, as well as counter-terrorism and the future of multilateralism. It added that Dar outlined the diplomatic efforts undertaken by his country to promote dialogue, de-escalate tensions, and facilitate the Islamabad talks between the United States and Iran. Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to dialogue and diplomacy as the most effective means of resolving conflicts. For his part, Guterres expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s longstanding contributions to supporting UN activities and its diplomatic efforts aimed at enhancing dialogue, mediation, and de-escalation.
