Doha, Oct 6 (KUNA) -- The Director General of the Qatar News Agency (QNA), Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Rumaihi, affirmed today that the establishment of the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on October 6, 1976, testifies to a media journey distinguished by high professionalism and objectivity in its coverage, representing a model of successful national media that keeps pace with the technology of the era.

In a special statement to KUNA marking the 50th anniversary of its founding, Al-Rumaihi said that the celebration of KUNA’s 50th anniversary takes place against the backdrop of exemplary and solid relations between Qatar and Kuwait, under the constant patronage of Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and His Highness the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

He emphasized that KUNA has worked to consolidate its media standing locally, regionally, and globally, developed its news sectors and services, enhanced the capabilities of its national staff, and adopted several pioneering initiatives at the Gulf and Arab levels.

Al-Rumaihi noted that KUNA’s publications, including books and bulletins, have enriched documentary content and contributed to highlighting the most important local and global events and issues. They have also documented the journey, life, and achievements of many Kuwaiti figures, thereby strengthening its role as a historical and informational reference.

He also pointed to the cooperation and joint news exchange agreement between QNA and KUNA, signed at the conclusion of the seventh session of the Kuwait-Qatar Supreme Joint Committee for Cooperation, which was held in Kuwait on February 8 last year.

He clarified that this agreement has strengthened the frameworks for news exchange between the two agencies through the accurate and rapid exchange of news and press reports to serve common issues. It has also enhanced bilateral cooperation between QNA and KUNA by leveraging artificial intelligence and modern technologies to develop media work mechanisms in both agencies, in addition to organizing joint training programs and sharing knowledge in the field of innovative media applications to raise the efficiency of national journalistic and technical staff.

He affirmed that this close coordination between QNA and KUNA reflects a sincere desire to deliver an objective media message that supports the stability of the Gulf region and highlights the developmental achievements of the two countries. It also contributes to unifying media perspectives and positions on various regional and international issues, serving the common interests of the two brotherly peoples. (End) S S S / M K
