Egyptian Foreign Minister and PLO Central Committee Secretary Discuss Palestinian Situation Developments

Cairo, Oct 6 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held talks with Jibril Rajoub, secretary of the Central Committee of the Fatah movement, to discuss developments in the Palestinian territories and efforts to support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday that the meeting addressed developments in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, as well as efforts aimed at supporting the full implementation of U.S. President Donald Trump’s comprehensive peace plan. Abdelatty stressed the importance of fully adhering to the obligations of the first phase of the plan, including ensuring the unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and advancing early recovery steps. He condemned the repeated attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians and their property in the West Bank, noting the escalation in their frequency, as well as the repeated incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and provocative acts inside it. He warned against the dangers of continuing these violations and attempts to undermine the historical and legal status quo at holy sites in Jerusalem. The meeting also highlighted the importance of continuing the Palestinian national dialogue to foster unity and consolidate Palestinian institutions, alongside Egypt’s support for efforts to reform and empower the Palestinian Authority and strengthen its capacity to fulfill its responsibilities in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Both sides emphasized the importance of supporting unity of decision-making and Palestinian institutions, paving the way for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967, lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.
