GCC Secretary-General Condemns Houthi Attacks on Jazan and Najran Airports; Member States Stand by Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, Oct 6 (KUNA) -- Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassem Al-Budaiwi today, Tuesday, strongly condemned the attacks carried out by the Houthi militia that targeted facilities at King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Jazan and Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Najran, Saudi Arabia.

In a press statement, Al-Budaiwi said that targeting airports and civilian infrastructure constitutes a serious escalation, a blatant violation of international laws and norms, and a direct threat to the safety of civilians and the security of air navigation. He added that the Houthi militia’s continued targeting of vital and civilian facilities in Saudi Arabia reflects a hostile and unacceptable approach, as well as a clear disregard for international law and international humanitarian law.

He stressed the need for the international community to take a firm stance against these attacks, hold the perpetrators accountable, and work to halt these terrorist practices that threaten regional security and stability, the safety of air navigation, and civilian infrastructure.

Al-Budaiwi reaffirmed that GCC member states stand united alongside Saudi Arabia, offering their full support for all measures and steps taken to protect the kingdom’s security, stability, territorial integrity, and the safety of its citizens and residents.

He expressed his sincere wishes for the speedy recovery of those injured in these attacks, and prayed to God Almighty to protect Saudi Arabia and its people from all harm, and to perpetuate the blessings of security and stability upon the kingdom. (End)
