From Khaled Al-Shammari, Riyadh, 6 Oct (KUNA) -- Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Al-Budaiwi today Tuesday praised the role of the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) in supporting the process of Gulf integration and keeping pace with joint Gulf efforts, on the occasion of the agency’s 50th anniversary.
In a statement to KUNA on this occasion, Al-Budaiwi said that over half a century, the agency has consolidated its position as a distinguished media institution whose mission is based on accuracy, credibility, and professionalism, contributing to conveying the voice of the State of Kuwait and its positions to the world, and highlighting the issues and aspirations of the GCC states and their peoples.
He commended the high professionalism practiced by the news agency in conveying information, its credibility, and its commitment to covering world news in a manner that provides readers with valuable information and high journalistic value.
He affirmed that KUNA plays an important role in highlighting the achievements of joint Gulf work, enhancing awareness of the importance of unity and cohesion among the GCC states, and bringing the goals of cooperation and integration closer to the Gulf citizen.
Al-Budaiwi recalled the agency’s role during the crises that the Gulf states experienced, particularly the brutal Iraqi aggression against Kuwait, when it carried its homeland’s message, defended its just cause, and contributed to conveying the truth to the international community.
He added that the recent crisis with Iran and the challenges it imposed on the security and stability of the region underscored the importance of responsible media in accurately conveying facts, highlighting Gulf positions, and enhancing public awareness and social cohesion.
Al-Budaiwi expressed his appreciation for the contributions of generations of journalists who helped build this venerable institution, and looked forward to the continuation of its role in serving the issues of the GCC states, keeping pace with media developments, and strengthening the Gulf presence on the international stage.
He extended heartfelt congratulations to the State of Kuwait, the agency’s leadership, and all its staff on this occasion, wishing them continued progress and success in fulfilling their media mission. (End) K.N.S. / M.Kh.
