Beirut, Oct 5 (KUNA) -- The Lebanese National News Agency reported on Monday that the Israeli occupation army continued its attacks in southern Lebanon, carrying out explosions in some areas, artillery shelling in others, and air raids on three additional areas. The agency added that occupation forces carried out a violent explosion in the border town of Khiam, shelled the towns of Mansouri and Wadi Zibqin, and struck the center of the Marjayoun plain with artillery. It noted that the Israeli occupation army dropped white phosphorus bombs on the town of Majdal Zoun, causing a fire at the site. The Israeli air force launched an airstrike on the town of Kafr Kanna and another on Wadi al-Hajar. Previously, Lebanon’s Ministry of Environment stated in earlier statements that the Israeli occupation army’s use of white phosphorus shells in southern Lebanon constitutes “a continuation of the path of environmental genocide,” in addition to the geological damage caused by the violent explosions carried out in the south.
